Allison Lee Thoeny

Program Director, Anesthesiology Residency

Allison Thoeny joined the faculty as a pediatric anesthesiologist in 2018. As an Arizona native and life-long Wildcat, she is thrilled to have returned home to her alma mater (Class of 2013) at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. After completing her internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Arizona Affiliated Hospitals, she moved to California to complete her residency training at the University of California San Francisco, followed by a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Some of her professional areas of interest include pediatric anesthetic neurotoxicity, congenial cardiac anesthesiology, graduate medical education, and career development of women in anesthesia.

After serving as Associate Program Director for three years, she is honored to have an even larger role in shaping the education and careers of our residents as core Program Director, beginning in August of 2022. She is proud of the individualized support the program can provide to each of our 40 residents in this close-knit anesthesia “family”.

She and her husband of 15 years enjoy living in the Sonoran Desert, taking in the land of Saguaros, plentiful wildlife, and breath-taking sunsets. When not working you will find her soaking up time at the park, the swimming pool, or an impromptu dance session with the loves of her life—her two toddler and infant sons. They enjoy taking weekend trips as a family to Phoenix or Santa Barbara to spend time with extended family.
