Application Process

Dear Prospective Residency Applicant,

Thank you for considering the University of Arizona, Department of Anesthesiology for your medical specialty training.

We provide both a categorical (PGY-1) and an advanced three-year anesthesiology program beginning with the CA-1 (PGY-2) year. For our applicants wishing to complete their internship in Tucson, we recommend applying to the Tucson Hospitals Medical Education Transitional Program or the Medicine, or Surgical preliminary programs offered at the University of Arizona. These programs are not directly affiliated with our program however we consider them uniformly excellent and many of our finest residents have completed their PGY-1 year with these departments.

This spring, we will be matching six (6) PGY-1 positions which will begin July 1, 2024, six (6) PGY-2 positions which will begin July 1, 2025 and one (1) Physician-Only position (PGY-2) to start July 1, 2024. We will not offer any of these positions outside of the Match, as that is not allowed by the NRMP. Applicants may apply to our program by submitting the required materials listed below to ERAS.

The following application materials are required for consideration and due by October 1:

·       ERAS Common Application Form (CAF)

·       Acuity Insights Assessments, Casper and Duet (See below)*

·       Curriculum Vitae

·       Personal Statement

·       Dean's Letter

·       USMLE or COMLEX Score Reports

·       Minimum Three Letters of Recommendation

·       Certified Copy of Medical School Transcript
